High Valley Wine and Cheese
It was a big gamble for the couple to move into grape-growing and the burgeoning wine industry, after operating their sheep, cattle and cropping property, "Berowra", for many years.
Since the initial planting of their 22 hectare vineyard in 1995, Ro and Grosvenor Francis established their own label.
First and foremost, to assess and prove the quality of the wine grapes from their area, and to establish a stock of wines for their cellar door, now located in Mudgee.
The vineyard is situated in the most northerly part of the Mudgee Wine Region in the state of NSW, nestled amongst the foothills on the southern slopes of the Liverpool Ranges.
At 20 years of age, Emily Birkinhead see's her position as cheesemaker at High Valley as a great opportunity to gain experience and recognition. Over a period of time, Emily looks forward to creating some new cheese varieties under the High Valley label, incorporating local produce along the way.
