Homeowners, architects, interior designers and builders alike have just one word on their lips at the moment…bamboo. It is one of the most striking, hardwearing and unique products on the flooring market today. More and more people are finding out about the seemingly endless benefits of a bamboo floor in both looks and practicality.
Bamboo has been used in China for over 5000 years, and it is easy to see why. It is reputed to be superior in quality, and more durable than most hard wood timber floors. Quiet and warm to walk on, it is extremely stable in both dry and humid conditions.
Bamboo is allergy free, environmentally friendly and repels termites. The boards are coated with three coats of a very resilient and hardwearing Polyurethane and UV cured, it shows amazing stamina for commercial and high activity areas. Also very popular because it doesn’t react to water, as do some timbers, bamboo is resilient to changes in temperature, making it the ideal choice for wet areas in the home.
Installation of a bamboo floor is so simple you can do it yourself if you have the time and know how. Or you can use the professional installation team from Style Plantation.
Bamboo blinds and bamboo shades are an inexpensive way to add some warmth and exotic flavour to any room in your house.
These traditional Asian inspired window coverings are made by weaving together very thin shafts of bamboo, which have been whittled and stripped of joints and outer skin. In Asia, bamboo-blind making continues as a traditional craft and involves both manual and mechanized procedures.
Venetian and Roll-up bamboo blinds make an economical and attractive window covering to accent any décor. The slats on a roll-up blind will be quite thin, from matchstick to straw-like for ease of rolling, with the weaving patterns varying the amount of light and privacy. Roman bamboo shades fold into layers as they're rolled up or down.
You'll also find bamboo blinds and shades in less traditional styles, with longer, wider slats of bamboo in both horizontal and vertical blinds.
Bamboo Furniture Board
Bamboo Furniture Board is made from 100 percent rapidly renewable bamboo, using adhesives that are both strong and emissions free. Bamboo Furniture Board can be cut and sanded using conventional woodworking equipment. It can also be glued or mechanically fastened using the same materials and fasteners commonly used with wood. Bamboo is a low resin, open grained material that takes stains and finishes exceptionally well.
Bamboo Furniture Board comes in both a coffee colour and natural light tone and is laminated to produce two different surface grains, vertical (edge up) and Horizontal (flat). The vertical grain appears as 1/4" strips and the horizontal grain appears as 3/4" strips on the surface of the Bamboo Furniture Board. It is then finish-sanded to a smooth 180 grit.
