Boyd Alternatives was born out of a desire for its founder, Deborah Boyd, to create a product that did not exist in Australia; to manufacture a product that was unique and world class and would fill a large gap in the bathroom furniture segment. Deborah's focus was to bridge the gap between art and functionality.
To create baths and basins that were organic shapes, sculptured, tactile and hand finished works of art that could be used every day.
By working with renowned local sculptors, Rodney Broad, Fiona Orr, and Don Browne, and local talent, she has achieved her aim.
Everyone involved in creating the product, from design, model sculpting, mould making, manufacturing, finishing and installing, is from the local Malmsbury area. Since its inception, Boyd Alternatives has operated on a policy of involving the local community and promoting Malmsbury as a hub of artistic endeavour. |
