Planet Ark works to show people the many ways they can reduce their day to day impact on the environment - at home, at work and in the community.

Australians send 34 printer cartridges to landfill every minute.

That equates to 2,050 an hour. That’s 5,000 tonnes per year. Or 21 times the combined weight loss of all Weight Watchers members in Australia in 2006!

We are determined to make our landfills the biggest loser by urging Australians to deprive their garbage bins of electronic waste. Join us in the fight to tip the scales and help our landfills trim down! Simply drop your used printer cartridges into a ‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ recycling box.

There are more cartridge recycling outlets than ever before.

‘Cartridges 4 Planet Ark’ collection boxes are in over 2,300 participating Australia Post, Officeworks, Harvey Norman, Tandy, Dick Smith Electronics and Powerhouse stores.

It’s free to register!

If you have a business and want to get a recycling box in your office, the program doesn’t cost a cent to join. Call the 'Cartridges 4 Planet Ark' Hotline on 1800 24 24 73 or visit planetark.com/cartridges for more information.

Australia leads the way with innovative cartridge recycling technology.

Planet Ark’s recycling partner Close the Loop® developed the technology to recycle all print consumable waste with zero waste to landfill. This means that not one component of the printer cartridges collected for recycling ends up in landfill. This technology is a world first initiative.

Seven of the major printer manufacturing companies have collaborated for the sake of the environment.

Planet Ark is successfully working with Lexmark, HP, Brother, Konica Minolta, Epson, Panasonic and Canon to collectively take responsibility for the end life of their products. This voluntary Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program is one of the most successful of its type in the world.
