NIGHT STORAGE - BLOCK HEATERS

High mass storage heaters can be heated during periods of off-peak, low cost energy and the stored heat slowly released during the rest of the day by forcing air through the block by way of a thermostatically controlled fan.

Another form of night storage is to lay floor heating cables in a concrete floor, insulated underneath (see floor heating). Both these methods have high initial installation costs but enable cheaper electrical energy to be used.
