The Story of Natural Gas | Types of Heating | Gas Hot Water | Gas Cooking | The Environment
page 1 of 1

Friendly to the Environment

Natural gas is virtually unprocessed, clean-burning, colourless and odourless (a strong smell is added to allow easy detection). With the increased use of natural gas come immediate environmental benefits because of its low carbon dioxide emissions, very low output of sulphur dioxide, and no ash pollution.

Natural gas is less harmful to the global environment than other fossil fuels. It produces less carbon dioxide than the same amount of energy from coal-generated electricity. This is a saving because carbon dioxide is recognised as one of the major causes of the Greenhouse gases. Natural gas - a natural "green" fuel.

Helping to Preserve Our Planet

Did you know that if every Australian household connected to natural gas for its cooking, heating and hot water needs, carbon dioxide emissions associated with supplying household energy (the main culprit of greenhouse gas emissions) could be reduced by over 70%?
