Toughened Glass
Applications Total Vision Systems
Toughened Glass enables the designer to
achieve uninterrupted vision in applications
where strength and safety are paramount.
Toughened Glass enables clean unframed
edge details.
Pilkington Armourfloat Toughened Glass is a grade A safety
glass, manufactured by heating and then rapidly cooling flat glass.
As a result, balancing compressive and tensile stresses
are set up in the glass. This gives Toughened Glass 4 to 5 times
more strength than ordinary glass of the same thickness and much
greater resistance to impact. In the unlikely event of breakage,
toughened glass breaks into small granules.
Shopfronts and entrances
Frameless glass doors and assemblies
offer exciting opportunities to maximise
retail exposure or gain unobstructed views.
There is a range of hardware available
to complement the installation.
Balustrades
Toughened Glass has the strength to
achieve a transparent balustrade without
apparent support.
Furniture
Toughened Glass satisfies the requirement
of clean edges with the peace of mind
assured by Grade A safety glass.
Overhead Glazing
Toughened Glass gives the designer the
ability to achieve large clear spans, with
the assurance of a Grade A safety glass.
The glass can also be laminated to comply
with building code requirements.
