Solar E

Pilkington Solar E is a laminated solar control glass, manufactured in five distinctive colours in a standard thickness of 8.38mm. Thicker glass is available for high wind load requirements.

Applications

Pilkington Solar E should be specified where solar control and daylight transmission need to be balanced, without reflectivity. Suitable for commercial and high-rise apartments, Solar E can also be used for:

  • office and technology parks

  • atriums and overhead glazing

  • public spaces

  • showrooms

  • residential developments.

How to specify

Glazing to be Pilkington Solar E " S4 (type), 8.38 laminated safety glass in accordance with AS2208. A thermal safety assessment from the manufacturer is required prior to installation. All glazing to be in accordance with AS1288 and Pilkington literature.

New glass and coating technology from Pilkington provides increased solar control with high daylight transmission and low reflectivity

This combination of qualities is what makes Pilkington Solar E uniquely suited to our diverse environmental and building challenges. New Pilkington coating technology combines excellent solar control and thermal insulation in a single glass without heavy tinting or mirror-like coatings that reduce natural light.

Safety

Solar E is a Grade A laminated safety glass (AS2208) and can be used in areas where human safety is paramount and in overhead glazing.

Fading Protection

99% of UV rays are eliminated, prolonging the life of furnishing and fixtures.

Colours

S4 grey S4 green S4 blue S4 neutral S4 standard

Features and Benefits

Improved daylight transmission

Clever design can make better use of daylight, saving energy and reducing operating costs.

Solar Control

Up to 65% of solar heat transmission is eliminated, providing a good balance between daylight and heat gain.

Thermal Insulation

A 30% improvement in insulation over standard glass means less heat is transmitted through Solar E, an advantage in both hot and cold climates.

Low reflectivity

Both interior and exterior reflectivity are low, allowing views and transparency to be maintained.

Notes

  • A thermal safety assessment is recommended prior installation, to determine that the glass is safe from thermal breakage

  • Typical measured values of Pilkington production are provided _ All performance data is calculated using LBL Window 4.1 program

  • ASHRAE standard summer conditions are used _ UV is from 300"380nm
