More than one Outlet

Most common in today’s homes to have more than one outlet, as indicated in the drawing above item “E” is a device for splitting the signal into two and allowing for the installation of two outlets.

In fact depending on the signal level from the antenna or the use of a Mast Head amplifier you can easily have six or more outlets in a domestic home.

Splitters come in a variety of forms and configurations however the most common used are the 2-way and 4-way splitters. The 17MM-TM12 and 17MM-TM14 are an excellent choice for installing more the one outlet. The diagram above shows how the splitter is inserted between the antenna and outlet cables.

Will you need an Amplifier?

Amplifiers are to assist with compensating for signal loss over the cable or increasing the number of outlets, it may surprise you to know that 50 meters of RG6/E6Q cable looses up to 90% signal leaving only 10% of the original signal. The installing professional knows this and when required will install an masthead amplifier to increase the signal for this loss. Of course you must start of with a very good signal before you amplify it and so choosing the a bigger antenna to produce more signal is the first step then, choose a masthead amplifier such as the 10MM-J24BF if you need bigger cable distances or more than 2 outlets. See “B” in the drawing for placement of the amplifier.

Connectors & Wall-plates

Good quality components are very important to deliver the best signal to the TV outlet, using quality F connector wall-plates and F-connectors will transfer the signal to the Television or entertainment system with minimum loss. The diagram shows these as G & F for the two outlet system. Using the 05MM-COSFI wall-plate or the 05MM-154 skirting wall outlet-plate will make it easy for you to connect your Television to the Antenna distribution system.
