The Kitchen

Provide ample lighting over all bench tops and surfaces.

Because a great deal of time is spent in the kitchen at all hours of the day it is important to ensure that all bench surfaces and cook tops are well lit. This will make it easier and safer to prepare food, especially when using hot or sharp utensils.

Install an Exhaust Fan

A low profile ceiling exhaust fan is ideal for bathrooms, kitchens and laundries. They quickly remove stale air and steam, protecting walls and ceilings, allowing clean fresh air to flow in. The slimline grille can be snapped off for cleaning.

Include a Rangehood over the stove

Rangehoods are the modern, stylish way to assist in keeping your kitchen free of cooking odours, steam, stains and grease. They are available in Recirculating or Exterior ducting types.

Install an Indoor Infrascan in the pantry

An indoor infrascan in the pantry can provide dramatic cost savings because they automatically switch off lights when they are not needed. Infrascans operate on body heat movement so when you enter the pantry with an arm full of shopping, the lights will automatically turn on and when you leave they will turn off after a suitable delay.

Use Water Protected Flush Switches

A simple solution to the long standing problem of using electricity near water. Water Protected Flush Switches are designed specifically for bathrooms, kitchens and laundries. A unique membrane between the switch dolly mechanism, together with a low profile neoprene gasket guarantees safety when switches are used with wet hands or installed near sinks, basins, taps and showers. Externally they look just like standard wall switches.

Provide enough power outlets to cater for the wide range of kitchen appliances.

There are a huge range of electrical appliances that can be used in the kitchen and these include:

Oven - Mixer - Food Processor - Percolator Kettle - Toaster - Sandwich Maker - Bread Maker - Pie Maker - Blender - Electric Frypan - Microwave - Fridge - Freezer - Dishwasher - Waste Disposal - Waffle Maker - Radio

Most of the above appliances will be used at bench height so it is important to discuss the positioning of your power outlets with your electrician.

Select Power Points to match the decor of your kitchen

There are many different styles of domestic electrical accessories that come in moulded plate colours and metal plate finishes.
