When Bushfire is Close

When a bushfire is close, remain outside for as long as possible - within the bounds of personal safety - patrolling for and suppressing any spot fires around your house and guttering.

When the smoke starts to thicken take refuge inside your home. As you retreat inside, you should:

  • Turn on the sprinkler system if you have one

  • Bring hoses, fittings and doormats inside with you.
Remain inside until the fire front has passed over.
