Save It Easy

Save It Easy is an innovative electronic ballast for the purpose of retrofitting existing FTL fixtures with conventional electromagnetic ballasts. Its Plug & Save technology is designed to be user-friendly.

Its quick and easy installation method is just as straight forward as replacing a Fluorescent tube. By fitting Save It Easy onto one end of the tube and then placing it back into the fixture you can convert your old T8 Fluorescent tube with an energy saving T5 tube without the help of an electrician.

Incandescent lamps

Most lighting in houses around the country is incandescent lighting. Though many new homes install incandescent lighting the technology is being slowly phased out. It could be wise to fit out your house with flexible light fittings that allow both incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs.

Incandescent Light Bulbs are a low cost option with ease of replacement. Average lamp life is about a 1000 hours and is capable of being connected to a dimmer.

Cons

  • Expensive to operate when compared to other lamp types

  • Shorter lamp life

  • Higher energy usage

Fluorescent Tubes " circular or linear

Pros

  • Good light output

  • Colour rendering of several colour temperature options from warm to very cool appearance.

  • Long lamp life and economical.

Cons

  • Dimmable only if electronic ballast is used.

  • Not a forgiving type of light source, not appropriate for relaxing spaces in your home


Fluorescent Energy Saver Lamps

Pro's

  • Good light output

  • Colour rendering of several colour temperature options from warm to very cool appearance.

  • On average use one fifth the energy of incandescent lamp types and last 8000 hours.

  • Increasing number of lamp type options for retrofit to most incandescent types.

Cons

  • Not dimmable.

  • Take a few seconds to warm up


Halogen Lamps " low voltage dichroic

Pros

  • Halogen dichroic lamps have a whiter light than incandescent types

  • Good colour rendering.

  • Instant on with full light output and dimmable.

  • Long to very long life options

  • Available with different beam spreads.

  • Glass covered types preferred with UV protection.

Cons

  • Care needs to be taken with high operating temperature of the lamp. Transformer is required to operate these 12V lamps.

  • These bulbs can be difficult to change, especially with high ceilings

  • You will often need a bank of halogen lights to satisfy your light output needs.


Halogen Lamps " 240V linear, G9, GU10

Pros

  • These halogen lamp types also have a whiter light than incandescent types

  • Good colour rendering

  • Instant on with full light output

  • Dimmable

  • Average lamp life of 2000 hours

  • No transformer is required to operate these lamp types.

Cons

  • These are very specific lights see what they kind of fittings they will need

  • Replacing bulbs will be more expensive


Metal Halide Lamps " tubular single and double ended

Pros

  • High light output

  • Excellent colour rendering

Cons

  • For use in enclosed fittings only

  • Limited number of light fittings available for this lamp type.

  • Dimmable only with electronic control gear.
