Lock Up Flooring Systems
When designing your new home or addition, the flooring system is one of the first and most important decisions you will make. When deciding on a flooring system there are a few things to keep in mind
Building Envolpe
Certain flooring systems won't work very well on certain sites. For example a concrete slab would be rather costly to instal on a steeply sloping block. It would be much better to use strip footings with a suspended floor to minimise the amount of cut and fill needed to be carried out on site.
Thermal Mass
The floors in your home can easily become a large body of thermal mass. When thinking about thermal mass and your floor, the orientation of your home is the most important factor. For examle any floors that are exposed to direct northern sunlight and are built of masonry products, concrete slabs or AAC panels, will retain any warmth from the sun for a much longer time than timber floor boards.
