Italian Varieties - with Food
Rob Fairall, owner of di Lusso Estate, takes the viewer through his philosophy of matching food with Italian varietal wine.
Di Lusso's wines are filmed in the best possible setting - under the di Lusso estate winery pergola overlooking the vineyard, with each wine featured alongside the chosen food match, prepared in the winery's restaurant kitchen.
Each of the matches is carefully chosen to ensure that, in the Italian tradition, the wine supports the dish rather than compete with it. Pinot Grigio with salt and pepper squid, Vermentino with spicy chicken, Vino Rosato with mixed antipasto are shown, followed by the reds with a series of meat dishes, and to finish the section di Lusso's dessert wines Aleatico with parmesan cheese, Picolit with apple pie and Passito and almond biscotti. Di Lusso Estate1's cellar door offers a range of "winetasting Lunches" throughout the week.
Their kitchen - Cucina di Lusso - has a "Locavore" philosophy of sourcing their produce from the Mudgee region.
